Dealing with Mental Health Issues

What is Group Counseling?

Group counseling aims to help improve communication, solve problems, and understand and handle relationship situations.

This type of counseling focuses on the problems that cannot be successfully addressed or solved without understanding the dynamics of the group. For example, the way the relationship operates, influences how the client's problems formed, and how they are encouraged or enabled by other members of the group.

Adding group therapy to your individual therapy routine has been known to spur change and quicken desired growth.

Is Family Therapy Is Different from Group Counseling

Yes, family therapy aims to work together to heal any mental, emotional, or psychological problems.

Family therapy can employ techniques and exercises from cognitive therapy, behavior therapy, interpersonal therapy, or other types of individual therapy. Like with other types of treatment, the techniques employed will depend on the specific problems the client or what clients present the therapist. Family therapy also involves exploring an individuals' problems in the context of the larger family unit.

How Group Counseling Can Help You Deal With Other Mental Health Issues

Family counseling can help improve your troubled relationships, especially with a partner, children, or other family members. Likewise, it can help family members address specific issues such as trauma, grief & loss, addiction, or abuse. For example, a conflict may arise between children and their parents. As a result, a client may not recognize the impact or mental stress it has on the entire family. Additional help from a trained therapist is recommended to help get the family back on track.

At Nova Counseling, we have the experience and knowledge to help any family heal, strengthen their family bonds today. Give us a call to schedule a time!
